CFD velocity simulation. Not particle capture footage.

The question you now want answered

How did it perform on fine and ultrafine particles?

Better than expected in the simulations.

Single-pass model at 30 L/s

48.9%
PM1 particles (1 micrometre)Powered short-range attraction model.
36.8%
50 nm ultrafinesCombined prediction: 40% charged, 60% neutral.

0.55 Pa module pressure drop

CFD predictions under assumed force and charge conditions. Physical validation pending. PM1 and ultrafine results use different charge assumptions.

Understand the results
  • The 91.7% figure applies to charged 50 nm particles only. It is not the headline result.
  • For neutral 50 nm particles the predicted capture is 0.21%, because neutral particles experience no electrical attraction in the model.
  • The 15 mm attraction reach is an uncalibrated modelling assumption.
  • Particles contacting an active surface are assumed to be retained.
  • Near-wall ultrafine deposition is not yet resolved.
  • These are CFD predictions, not physical test results, and are not HEPA or any other certification.
  • The airflow video shows a velocity simulation, not particle capture footage.

Cleaner air. Less resistance. More possibilities.

Demand for cleaner indoor air is growing worldwide, while buildings face rising pressure to control energy use and running costs. Conventional high-efficiency filtration often adds airflow resistance that fans must work harder to overcome.

HVAC BULLET explores a different route: working with the airflow already moving through suitable ducted systems, aiming for meaningful fine and ultrafine particle capture at very low modelled pressure drop.

The thinking behind the shape

Why the BULLET?

The rounded nose guides air around the central collector and through the gap between it and the outer collection surface. The streamlined shape is designed to keep airflow resistance low while bringing particles close to both collectors.

Our CFD study predicted a module pressure drop of just 0.55 Pa at 30 L/s. This short film explains the design and the particle-capture results.
